My 2018 New Year Resolutions

To many, New Year resolutions is like a reset button. It marks the time where you can start over and make changes to your life. Every year I would had some resolutions in mind and eventually try to accomplish them but not last year.

At the end of 2016 my mom passed away from a brain tumor that she battled for almost 9 years. She had gone through a couple brain surgeries that went well until the beginning of 2016 when she started losing her motor skills until finally shutting down her entire body.

My mom and I had a very strong relationship, I always use to think that if she’d die I would die with her, but God’s plan seems to always work, even though her illness got worse and it was dragged for the entire year of 2016, it gave me the opportunity to get used to her not calling me every day or not being able to see her every time I wanted to. She was already departing months before she was really gone.

In 2017 I had no New Year resolutions, I was totally disappointed at life and even God. Little by little I started to adjust and learned how to live without her, no more doctor’s appointments or taking turns with my sisters to stay the night with her at the hospital.  Eventually I started to understand and appreciate the way things happened; I was able to say goodbye and to me that’s all it matters now. The pain was finally healing.

This year I feel like I have found myself again and realized that life is too short and I have to make the most of it so my New Year resolutions for 2018 is to find happiness. I have a couple goals I want to accomplish and I am so pumped to get this year going.

Every year is a lesson and another page on the book of your life, make it count!

What are your new year resolutions for 2018? Is there anything in particular you really want to achieve in the new year?
